Corals
A snorkelling trip in Maldives will make you feel like you just entered into a fairyland! You’ll come across many colourful reefs in so many shapes and sizes such as star corals, brain, elkhorn, and much more. While many a Maldives luxury resort the likes of the Kandolhu Island Maldives have their own house reef; some of the best coral reefs in the country include the HP Reef and the Banana Reef.
Fish
Where there are spectacular reefs, you will find spectacular fish! The coral reefs provide a wonderful home for many species of fish such as giant Napoleon wrasse, Oriental sweetlips, barracuda, angel fish, parrot fish, yellow butterfly fish, squirrel fish, puffer fish, blue-lined snapper, surgeonfish and travelley, to name a few!
Manta Rays
These giant graceful creatures can be found in great numbers in the waters of Maldives. The best place to see them in the country is at the Manta Point, where scores of manta rays line up to be cleaned by wrasse fish.
Turtles
You can meet four of the five endangered species of sea turtles when in Maldives. These include the Olive Ridley, green turtles, loggerhead turtles and the pictured Hawksbill turtle. The best time to see turtles in Maldives is during the months of June and November when they come ashore for nesting.
