Have you heard of the exotic variety of wildlife that thrives beneath the turquoise surface surrounding the idyllic islands of the Maldives? The best way to experience the treasures of the underwater world is by diving.
December to April
Diving in Maldives is most popular between the months of December to April, coincidentally identified as the peak season to the islands. The Maldivian summer which brings in the North East monsoon makes it ideal for diving and other water-related activities as the weather is hot and dry. Water temperatures are approximately 28 degrees Celsius.
May to December
Dive sites located on the west of the islands are clear during this time period, with the onset of the South West monsoon. During this season, you’ll have a good chance of seeing whale sharks and manta rays swimming near the eastern atolls.
Dive sites
Depending on where you’re staying, there are a number of iconic dive sites. For example, those staying at Baros Maldives would find that there are a large number of dive sites and house reefs located in close proximity to the resort.
PADI Certified
Do keep in mind that before embarking on a scuba diving excursion, you will have to qualify for a PADI diving certification. This is usually offered at your resort or at a diving school.
