The Maldives is home to some amazing underwater life with a whole array of activities. Want to know more on what you will encounter when you’re snorkelling in the Maldives?
1) Whale Sharks
This is probably one of the few places across the entire planet where you can find these wonderful creatures all year round. These gentle giants can weigh up to 20 tonnes and are harmless. They feed on plankton, some of the smallest living organisms in the sea.
2) Manta Rays
Snorkelling with manta rays is one of the most popular activities in all of the Maldives. The manta rays tail doesn’t have a sting and their diet consists of only plankton as well. These beautiful creatures will swim up to you and then twirl back right in front of you. If you’re on the lookout for Maldives villas, you’ll find plenty of great choices like Kuramathi Maldives for example.
3) Dolphins and whales
The Maldives is home to about 23 different types of whales and dolphins. You’re almost guaranteed to come across creatures like blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. These spinner dolphins are known to swim and leap out of the water with great speed before spinning in the air and diving back.
4) Turtles
While they are considered a threatened species, it’ll be quite easy to spot a few in the Maldives. These creatures are mostly friendly and very inquisitive in nature.
