Regarded as a perfect holiday destination, Maldives is always a hit among holiday makers. The luxurious resorts, the inviting ocean around it,the pure white sands and the palm trees all make it the perfect place to enjoy your holiday. But what is an island holiday without some cocktail to sip on? Whether you have it on the beach, or on the deck ,a cocktail could definitely brighten up your experience of dining in Maldives. There are many bars that specialise in some of the signature cocktails belonging to the islands. Most hotels also have their own in-house bars, such as Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas which has its own roof top bar “Sky”.
There are many popular cocktails as mentioned before and one of them is Alidhoo Sunset, which is a cocktail with 10% alcohol which is Barcardi. Other ingredients that make up this exotic drink are pineapple juice and orange juice. “Island Affair” is another popular cocktail around here, Melone Liqueur is the alcohol that goes into this drink with Blue Curacao,Cointreau and has an alcohol consistency of about 11 %. Angaga Express is made up of Vodka and Benedictine and grapefruit juice and yet again this is one of the favourites. Angaga Queen, on the other hand, is made of Tequila and Maraschino. Black Coral is another vodka based cocktail with Kahlua and Coca-Cola topped off with a cherry and lime slice. With the abundance of coconuts, Maldivians have crafted some cocktails with coconut flavours in them. One such cocktail is Coconut Lagoon, made with white rum, Galliano, Triple Sec, coconut milk and peach juice.
There are also the regular classics such as the margaritas, the frozen margaritas, the martinis, and the mojitos that are widely available with its own Maldivian twist.
