If you read the subheading up top, you would have figured that the Maladies has something to offer all year through! That said, there are two distinct seasons worth knowing about.
The Dry Season
The dry season which is coincidently (and to no one’s surprise!) the peak season for tourists, is generally from November to April. Rates are higher, though the weather is utterly sublime with average temperatures around 32° Celsius; due to the season’s popularity, make an advance booking at a luxury hotel Maldives has to offer to avoid disappointment.
Dry Season Highlights
The glorious tropical weather with clear skies and calm waters make this period the ideal time to enjoy water sports. Resorts the likes of Velassaru Maldives offer both diving and snorkelling which are not to be missed along with parasailing, wakeboarding, kayaking and exploring the sea via a Seabob water rocket.
The Rainy Season
The month of May generally heralds the beginning of the monsoon period known as “Halhangu” which reaches its peak around July or August and begins to peter out towards October. Do keep in mind, however, it is unlikely to rain the entire day and as an added plus, rates are relatively less too.
Rainy Season Highlights
Even if those pesky downpours do arrive, those staying at luxury resorts in Maldives can enjoy the comforts of a private beach or overwater villa. Such properties will also offer year-round dining and spa treatments, while this period provides optimal conditions for surfing and depending on the area, spotting mantas and whale sharks!
