If you’re vacationing in the Maldives, you have to give ultraviolet night diving a try. This type of diving is a whole new way to experience the beauty that exists beneath the waves here. So, here’s a closer look at what makes this whole excursion so cool.

How it Works
There’s a plethora of marine life you can observe beneath the waves of the Maldives. Interestingly, most of these animals – including the famous corals – contain tiny pigments that reflect UV light in their tissue. So, when a diver shines a UV LED over these creatures, they light up brilliantly.
The Equipment Needed
It goes without saying that you need all the equipment required for a regular dive here too – from an O2 tank to a wetsuit. You might also want to get some scuba training before attempting a night dive. For the UV part of the night dive to work, you’ll need a UV LED light.
Staying Safe
If you’re a new diver, be sure to carry a white light with you in order to navigate the reefs more easily. In fact, you should probably use the white light for the first half of the dive until you get comfortable in the water.
The Sights You’ll See
If you’re staying at one of the beachside resorts the Maldives has to offer like the Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences, be sure to give UV night diving a try – there’s a reason that it’s one the best things to do in Maldives. In the water, you’ll be surrounded by the brilliant hues of countless fish, eels, jellyfish, and crustaceans!
