If you are visiting the Maldives for the first time you will find that it is an absolute paradise for snorkelling. There are over 2500 reefs in the collection of archipelagos, the water is crystal clear, and the climate is almost always mild resulting in perfect weather conditions.
1. Banana Reef

Located on the North Male Atoll, Banana Reef gets its name from its distinctly banana-like shape. It is home to a multitude of marine life making it a superior snorkeling destination. You’ll be able to see all kinds of fish like Palette Surgeonfish, Giant Squirrelfish, Oriental Sweetlips and more.
2. HP Reef
If you are looking for things to do in Maldives from December to April, head to the HP Reef in the North Male Atoll. It is home to a fish called the “Girifushi Thila” among others. The corals are so vibrant it is often called Rainbow Reef.
3. Manta Point
Located just off the coast from Baros Island, Manta Point is another great location for snorkeling with giant manta rays and the occasional whale sharks. It is a magical experience not to be missed. The best times are from May to November.
4. Filaidhoo, Maldives
The location of luxury resort Reethi Faru Resort, Filaidhoo is another island where you can go if you love to snorkel. The clear waters are abundant in marine life.
