If the only thing keeping you from visiting the Maldives has been that you are not interested in just spending days swimming and sunbathing, you are entirely wrong. There are plenty of unique and fun things to do on the islands and here are some of the best.
1. Watch the Beach Light Up
If you want to see the stars in the sea head on down to the island of Mudhdhoo which is located in the Baa Atoll. This is due to a glowing sea creature called phytoplankton. If you really want to see it you should plan your trip around September to November.
2. Witness Stingray Feeding
If you are wondering where to stay in Maldives, find a place that is close to nightly stingray feeding sites so you can watch the big giant creatures in their natural habitat. It’s a great way to appreciate nature.
3. Swim with the Whale Sharks
Resorts the likes of Reethi Faru Resort will be able to organise dives and swimming with whale sharks and manta rays for you. It will usually be done in groups with a diving instructor and is completely safe.
4. Scuba Dive for a Shipwreck
If you have a PADI qualification you can try some shipwreck diving. Since corals grow in the oxygen-rich waters, you will be able to see a lot of the marine biodiversity that the Maldives brags about.
