The Maldivian climate is tropical and is therefore, hot, humid and dry with temperatures averaging 250- 300 C. Basically governed by the monsoons, Maldives has southwestern monsoonal rains from July to August and northeastern monsoonal from November to March.
Actually, there is really no off season for the Maldives but the dry season months of December to April are generally considered to be the BEST TIME TO BE IN MALDIVES. Snorkeling, diving , jet skiing and other aquatic sports , exploring reefs , island hopping ,dolphin and whale watching can be enjoyed throughout the day while night time fishing etc., can be indulged in under a clear and starry sky. Visiting of places like the Old Friday Mosque and understanding Maldivian history and culture is another absorbing pastime.
May-November is also good to visit the earthly paradise that is the Maldives. During this time there is increased water clarity and therefore, better visibility for divers and snorkel lovers. Other water sports too can be indulged in during this time. Though rain and storms will be there they will not affect the fun badly. The weather will stay warm. The great advantage of this season is that resorts will be at their cheapest.
March and April are considered to be the shoulder months. The great weather will continue till end April and the weather will be at its hottest. Surfing begins in March and continues till October.
This is part of the magic of Maldives that a magical ‘no news- no shoes’ holiday can be enjoyed all year around for even in the off seasons the climate and weather will not be great obstacles.
