The oceans surrounding the many islands of the Maldives are teeming with a great variety of multicoloured fish. If you’re on holiday and snorkelling near a house reef of one of the many diving resorts in Maldives, such as the Anantara Veli Maldives Resort or any other, you’re sure to come across several different fish breeds. Read on to find out more about two of the most common and colourful fish that call these waters home, so that the next time you’re out diving or snorkelling, you’ll be able to spot and name them.
Let’s start off with the clown fish. This fish is a beacon of colour and is probably now one of the most recognised among all wild fish, ever since Finding Nemo hit the screens way back in 2003. Nemo, the same as the rest of his kind, is coloured mainly orange and white, with a little bit of black here and there on the fringes. The orange and white colours run in relatively broad bands across the length of the clown fish, which is quite small in size if you’ll remember from the movie, reaching a maximum of only around eighteen centimetres in length.
Another type of fish you’re likely to come across when you head out snorkelling is the angel fish. This little critter is perfect for those who have a waterproof camera on them and are in search of a splash of colour. Usually coming in hues of bright yellow and royal blue with a peppering of white and orange, these fish are a feast for the eyes. While they aren’t the most proactively friendly of fishes when it comes to swimming up to humans in the water, they are also said to be one of the fish species that don’t scare off too easily, making them ideal photography subjects for your underwater holiday album.
