Visiting the premises is only allowed through a permission from the ministry of Islamic affairs of Maldives. Even though the new mosque has replaced this old one , this in itself is different from the new one.
The national museum is worth paying a visit to located within the Sultan park there are displays of Maldivian houses and how they evolved over the years , the musical instruments used by the communities and one could even find a skeleton of a whale.
While on tour through the city you will come across local markets, fish markets and not to forget the preferential palace. The sultan park is also worth paying a visit.
