House Reefs
These reefs are generally those that are found in and around private island resorts the likes of Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives. Easy to access from the shore or overwater villas and perfect for those just starting out on snorkelling, these reefs are usually home to countless fish species that will swim past you.
Banana Reef
One of the most well-known dive sites, Banana Reef can be found in the North Male Atoll in Maldives. Island resorts within easy reach of this site are perfect and novice divers can look forward to exploring a reef that’s home to everything from caves and coral to Napoleon wrasse and giant squirrelfish!
Rasfari
Another North Male Atoll dive site that beginners can also enjoy, Rasfari is popular for being a place where one can spot a variety of sharks including silvertip and grey reef sharks. On your adventures, you could see a great many eagle rays, while those heading deeper may encounter barracudas and fusiliers too.
Maaya Thila
Over in the South Ari Atoll is where you will find Maaya Thila another site known for its rich marine life and vibrant corals. Those on an underwater excursion here can look forward to seeing giant trevally, whitetip reef sharks and stingrays, while advanced divers visiting at night may come across scorpion fish and moray eels too.
