The flattest country
So, would you have ever imagined that the highest point in Maldives is just 2.3 metres above sea level? Don’t believe it? But it is a fact! On average the islands are only about 1.8 metres above sea level.

Ever heard of those Dhoni excursions offered by many a Maldives beach resort? Wonder what it is? This boat is a traditional Maldivian boat invented with inspiration from the Arabic dhow.
The coconut trees
This is a symbol that depicts the Maldives and for good reason too. The abundance of coconut trees is what provides the island with shade, wood for boats and coconut is also a widely used ingredient in local cuisine.
The islands
The atolls of Maldives amount to a total of 26 and the entire nation consists of 1190 islands. About 110 of them belong to resorts like The Residence Maldives Dhigurah and about 200 are occupied by locals.
