Bodu Beru
Bodu Beru is a folk dance inspired by sailors from Africa who settled on the Maldives in the 11th century. The dance consists of 15-20 drummers, a lead singer, and bell players. The main instrument is a large drum while bamboo instruments with holes are used to create raspy sounds. Dhandi Jehun

Koadi Kendun
The event performers parade through the streets trying to snatch the ‘Koadi” from a group of women guarding it. ‘Koadi’ is a wooden or metal stick tied to the top of a coconut tree and covered with palm leaves flowers, and colourful fabrics.

This captivating dance is performed by 22 men dressed in white, as they dance and sing to the rhythmic beats of the drummers.
