The Maldives has become the perfect holiday destination even during the pandemic and here are things to keep in mind for a getaway to this tropical paradise.
Entry Requirements
The country has reopened its borders to all tourists though there are some things you need to remember. Within 96 hours before you depart to the Maldives, you must take and have a negative result from a PCR test for COVID-19; this should be attached to a health declaration form that must be submitted online within 24 hours before arrival.
Quarantine-free stays
For accommodation in the Maldives, luxury resort options are ideal since they are each on a private island. Such properties include Kandolhu Maldives that have implemented stringent hygiene and health measures as well as enhanced cleaning protocols in line with guidelines from the local Health Protection Agency and the World Health Organisation.
Plan Fun Activities
Ensure you experience the many fun and safe things to do in Maldives like trying new water sports. Those based in the North Ari Atoll can look forward to diving and snorkelling with manta rays or whale sharks too! You can also go big game fishing, take a champagne sunset cruise and enjoy the seclusion of a deserted island.
The Dos & Don’ts
Applicable whenever you visit are the various dos & don’ts. Do bring cotton or linen clothing, dress modestly at local islands and use reef-safe sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30. Don’t bring alcohol into the country (don’t worry, it’s served at private resorts!), avoid public displays of affection on local islands and don’t break any coral.
