Want to experience the Maldives in the best way? Let’s just say that this archipelago is best explored underwater where the vibrant marine life thrives. This is for all the snorkellers out there! Here is what to expect from the waters of Maldives.
Snorkelling in the Maldives
The ideal way to go snorkelling in the Maldives is to reserve a snorkelers-only liveaboard boat for yourself which is kind of hard to come across. Nevertheless, some of the Maldives luxury resorts, for instance, the renowned Adaaran Prestige Vadoo have reefs in the vicinity which you have to agree is handy!
Corals
Coral genus such as brain, table finger, boulder, lobe and staghorn which belong to the hard-coral category can be identified here. A few from the soft coral category like leather coral can be spotted as well.
Fish
Watching the bright coloured fish swim past in schools is just incredible! The giant clams, lovely anemone fish and the black and white tip reef shark concealing floating around in their habitats and even Hawksbill turtles! The list goes on and on, but the array of fish will not disappoint!
Perfect time for a snorkelling trip
The weather is wet from May to December, because of the southwest monsoon in the Maldives. The rains make the waters murky and unclear. Therefore, it is wise not to snorkel during this period even if you are on holiday here. From March to April, windspeeds are at its lowest which is the perfect time to visit.
