While snorkelling and diving are amongst the best water sports in Maldives, non-swimmers need not despair since they have plenty of other captivating options to enjoy.
Fishing
Fishing doesn’t require swimming but does need some patience and a bit of luck! In the Maldives, luxury resorts offer big game fishing excursions giving you the chance to catch sailfish, tuna and more; your catch can even be prepared for a meal! For something different, try traditional Maldivian hand line fishing at sunset.
Jet Skiing
For some adrenaline-pumping action, try jet-skiing for a thrilling speed-filled ride! Even though this activity takes place on the water, you don’t need to be able to swim and will be wearing a lifejacket as well. Properties like Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences even offer guided jet-ski tours including one to spot dolphins!
Kayaking
A great way to explore the waters around your resort is to go kayaking. It’s a fun activity to enjoy in the safety of a trusty kayak as you paddle above crystal clear waters that provide glimpses of marine life below. Some resorts even offer guided kayaking tours of the surrounding lagoon which add to the adventure.
Parasailing
For this activity, you will start in the water but end up in the air though you don’t need to swim or fly for that matter! Thanks to a speedboat and a parachute or parasail wing that you are securely harnessed to, you will soar above, be it on a solo or tandem journey, to enjoy spellbinding vistas of this tropical paradise.
