Been at home for much too long? Planning on travelling? The Maldives is certainly ready to welcome you with open arms…provided your PCR report is negative that is!
Who can visit the Maldives?
Pretty much anyone can visit the Maldives provided you are not having a cold, cough or fever. Also, a negative PCR report is mandatory 24 hours before your flight.
What are the restrictions?
It is required that you take your PCR test 96 hours prior to your flight. If your test is negative, attach it along with the completed Traveller Health Declaration form to be submitted online.
Split stay between hotels is allowed as long as you have obtained prior permission. Also, if you have spent more than 48 hours in Male you will need to go through with another examination.
If you are coming into Maldives from the UK, at least 10 days quarantine is necessary.
What’s the Covid-19 situation?
Since Maldives strictly monitors the spread of the virus and ensures that citizens take the maximum precaution, the situation is under good control. The 555,399 tourist arrivals last year is proof that the islands are a safe destination. This year Maldives is expecting arrivals from Ukraine, Indian, UK, Russia, France, Slovakia, Kazakistan, US, Germany and Austria.
What can visitors expect?
Any Maldives overwater villa is well isolated as properties like Reethi Faru Resort are located on their own private island. Social distancing is firmly followed rather easily as well. Most guests prefer to spend their time at just one resort throughout rather than travelling from one island to another. Furthermore, sanitisation and wearing masks are a must when on the main island and during your transit to the resort.
