The best way to truly experience the intriguing worlds beneath the waves is to go scuba diving and here are some things that beginners will want to keep in mind.
Take Time to Learn the Basics
To go scuba diving, you need the proper training and certification; training usually takes place in a shallow lagoon or pool and don’t expect to rush through; take time to understand and practice the basics including safety instructions. On holidays to destinations such as the Maldives, stay at resorts like Grand Park Kodhipparu that offer PADI certified, beginner and advanced courses for diving adventures.
Visibility, Vison & Weightlessness
Scuba diving is one of the best things to do in Maldives partly because the clear waters provide excellent visibility to see marine and coral life. That said, remember when you are underwater, your peripheral vision will be somewhat restricted due to the scuba mask; added to this is that you will feel increased freedom of movement due to a sense of weightlessness which you will need to initially get used to.
Breathing and Noises
To breathe underwater, divers use what is called a scuba regulator which will take some practice; one way to do this is to first master breathing with the regulator above water before trying it under the water’s surface. Additionally, one may at first be surprised that when diving, it can get quite loud too! There are various noises, especially when inhaling and exhaling through the regulator which one will soon learn to tune out.
Water Density & Instructions
Because of the water density, you may feel your movements are somewhat restricted and will tire easily though with time, you will learn to control your arm motions. Faced with such factors as mentioned above, sometimes, divers may tend to forget their instructions and the learnt hand signals; in such instances, take your time and don’t feel bad if your instructor takes you up to the surface for a quick run-through.
