Wondering when to visit the Maldives? The good news is that it has something to offer the whole year through! That said, here are insights on the two main seasons.
Dry Season
The dry season runs from around November to April and not surprisingly, it’s the peak season for travellers especially from December onwards. You can expect plenty of sunshine perfect for fun and frolic on the shore beside beach villas; Maldives water sports can be enjoyed too amidst calm waters that provide amazing visibility.
Things to Do
There’s plenty to do during this time especially at resorts like Naladhu Private Island Maldives; you can go snorkelling with nurse sharks and dolphins or diving at thriving reefs and intriguing shipwrecks! You can also try big game fishing, jet-skiing, flyboarding and parasailing as well as enjoy sunset cruises and deserted island picnics.
Wet Season
The wet season may sound foreboding, but it isn’t! This off-peak period is generally from May to October and sees the arrival of monsoon rains; however, these rains won’t last the whole day through so you can still enjoy the glorious sunshine. Additionally, during this period you will find reduced rates and some amazing deals too.
Seasonal Activities
While diving can be enjoyed year-round, certain activities are best experienced in the wet season. This includes surfing in the South Male Atoll which offers great waves at points such as Boatyards and the Veli Left. Also, in such locations, from August to December you have a chance to see and snorkel with manta rays too!
