The Maldives is one of the most popular beach destinations to visit in the world, and it has remained so despite the prevailing global pandemic. Now, if you’re planning to visit the islands in the near future, here’s a quick rundown of a few things you need to keep in mind.
Entry Requirements
First off, you should make sure that you have all the documents you need to get into the country. Besides the obvious requirements like a passport and visa, you’ll also need to show a confirmed booking with a registered tourist facility. This can come in the form of a booking made at one of the luxury Maldives resorts – say, for instance, the OZEN LIFE MAADHOO.
How Testing Works
Temperature checks and basic health screenings will be conducted on arrival at the Maldives. If you showcase any symptoms associated with Covid-19, you will be required to partake in a PCR test at your own cost. Random testing may also be conducted by the authorities without any additional charges.
Local Covid Measures
Curfews were put in place in Male from midnight to 4 am. Resorts and private islands that have not had any Covid-19 cases are not subjected to this curfew nor any government monitoring.
Travelling Between Islands
You will be permitted to travel between islands as long as you obtain prior approval from Inter-island Travel. For the time being, cruise ships, yacht, and other such vessels have been prohibited from docking in the Maldives if they are arriving from overseas.
