Garudhiya
This clear fish broth is a very popular dish and features tuna be it yellowfin tuna, little tunny or skipjack. Available at Maldives restaurants on island resorts as well, this spicy broth also contains chopped chilli and a dash of lime and can be served with rice.
Maldivian Curry
Spice-filled Maldivian curries are a great accompaniment to rice. As with most local dishes, curries are made using seafood with everything from reef fish and tuna to prawns. Mas Huni
A breakfast favourite, this dish consists of finely chopped up tuna, chilli and onions mixed with grated coconut. It is a bit spicy and is ideally eaten with Maldivian flatbread or chapati accompanied by some hot tea.
Handulu Bondibai
This distinctive dessert is a popular dish to share during special occasions. It is a sticky rice-based dish that is sweet; apart from the rice, its main ingredients include coconut milk, rosewater and sugar. Depending on the recipe followed, other ingredients are also added such as cardamom and cinnamon.
